How Serbia Employment-Based Residence Works

Serbia uses a combined residence-and-work framework for many foreign workers. Depending on nationality and entry rules, a foreign worker may need a long-stay Visa D for employment or may be able to apply for a single temporary residence and work permit. The single permit is submitted electronically and can be issued for up to three years, depending on the case.

Single PermitCombines temporary residence and work authorization for qualifying employment cases.
Electronic FilingSingle-permit applications are submitted through Serbia’s official foreign-citizen portal.
Employer Can ApplyThe employer or an authorized person may submit on behalf of the foreign worker in eligible cases.
Visa and permit requirements depend on passport nationality, job type, employer documentation and intended length of stay. Approval is always decided by the competent Serbian authorities.
